HOUSTON — BP PLC asked a U.S. judge to accept a $50 million fine to resolve criminal charges linked to 15 deaths in a 2005 explosion at its Texas refinery while victims demanded that the fine should be as much as $3.2 billion.
Blast victims urged U.S. District Judge Lee Rosenthal in Houston to reject the plea Monday, calling the $50 million deal inadequate.
