Mission Training International in Palmer Lake asked for prayers today for the Christian missionaries hurt or killed by a rollover crash Sunday morning on C-470.
“Your prayers are needed more than ever as family arrives from all over the country,” administrator Dan Smith said in a statement. “These families are reeling with emotions and are in shock.”
The center, which trains missionaries for overseas duty, said of those killed:
Isaac Sward, 17 months, died at The Children’s Hospital in Aurora Monday after being airlifted to the hospital Sunday with severe brain injuries.
Jessica Pety, 21, of Duluth, Ga., was training to work with immigrants in southern Europe.
Karin Jordaan, 45, from South Africa was preparing to live in Central Europe as a coordinator of humanitarian assistance for the regions surrounding Europe.
Of those injured:
Andrea Sward, 28, Isaac’s mother, remains in critical condition at Swedish Medical Center in Englewood.
Her husband, Scott, 29, is in stable condition at Swedish. The Sward family is from Long Beach, Calif., and were planning to move to Southeast Asia to do language training as preparation for further ministry overseas.
Emily Liddiard, 24, of Lexington, Mich., was in critical condition after the accident and is now in stable condition in the intensive care unit at Littleton Adventist Hospital. She was preparing to work in AIDS prevention training for youth in southern Africa.
“We are asking God for the complete recovery of health for Andrea, Scott and Emily,” Hill said in his statement.
The van the missionaries were riding in was struck by Jeep Grand Cherokee driven by James Jolly, 67, of Highlands Ranch.
Jolly was admitted to SkyRidge Hospital, though his injuries were not life-threatening, Littleton police said. His condition was not available Tuesday.
His passenger, Anna Pintos, 61, of Highlands Ranch told police Jolly fainted, which caused the crash. Pintos received minor injuries.
