ENGLEWOOD, Colo.—Dish Network Corp. Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Charlie Ergen will take over the duties of president after Carl Vogel resigned for personal reasons.
Vogel will remain as vice chairman at Dish and will continue to lead programming, business and commercial services functions and corporate development, the company announced Tuesday.
Dish Network is the nation’s No. 2 satellite TV provider with 13.7 million subscribers as of Sept. 30. El Segundo, Calif.-based DirecTV, the nation’s largest satellite TV provider, has 16.6 million as of the same date.
EchoStar Communications Corp. in December announced it was creating the Dish Network Corp. that would focus on the satellite TV service while other technology assets—such as broadcast satellite receiver, commercial satellite businesses and set-top boxes—would be in a company called EchoStar Holding Co., which later would be changed to EchoStar Communications Corp.
