MTV is coming to the Democratic National Convention here in August. Who isn’t?
Execs for the cable outlet are due in town next week to check out the former Wolfgang Puck Grand Cafe space at Denver Pavilions. That would become MTV headquarters.
Insiders say MTV likes the layout for location, live interviews and acoustic performances.
Chuck Morris at AEG is in charge of the entertainment at the convention — and he’s not talking. But rumors have been flying for months that we’ll see here Rage Against the Machine and the Eagles. Oh, and the convention just happens to coincide with this summer’s 25th anniversary of U2’s “Under a Blood Red Sky” concert at Red Rocks. Now that would rock.
When the Dems were in Boston four years ago, they heard the likes of Red Hot Chili Peppers, Black Eyed Peas, Emmylou Harris and, of course, crazy lady Sheryl Crow. I’m sure she’ll be here singing her “Gasoline” protest song.
Who’s the fairest?
The cover of the upcoming Vanity Fair features an Annie Leibovitz shot of 10 of Hollywood’s hottest “Fresh Faces.” “Juno” Oscar nominee Ellen Page is there, of course, along with America Ferrera of “Ugly Betty.”
Coloradans will take pride in having two natives in the lineup: Jessica Biel (“I Now Pronounce You Chuck & Larry”) from Boulder and Amy Adams (“Enchanted”) from Castle Rock.
