PUEBLO, Colo.—A woman was killed and a state trooper was seriously injured when a tractor-trailer rig crashed into the back of a patrol car parked on the shoulder of Interstate 25 on Wednesday.

Two other people, including the truck driver, were also injured, the State Patrol said.

Master Trooper Ron Watkins said the trooper and two other people were inside in the patrol car after a previous accident when the truck ran into the cruiser at about 8:30 a.m.

Watkins said 56-year-old Connie Tucker of Trinidad was killed.

State Trooper Brad Kennerson, 42, and Rhonda Traber, 49, of Trinidad both suffered serious injuries and were taken to St. Mary Corwin Hospital in Pueblo.

Watkins said the truck driver, German Rosales, 23, of Riverside, Calif., suffered moderate injuries and was treated at Spanish Peaks Regional Health Center in Walsenburg.

Kennerson, a 12-year patrol veteran, is stationed at Walsenburg.

Watkins said neither alcohol nor drugs were believed to be a factor in the crash. He said the investigation was continuing and charges were pending.
