Sunflower Market Inc. must pay $125,000 in back wages to 78 workers after it committed youth-employment violations, according to the Department of Labor’s Wage and Hour Division.

The organic grocer was misapplying the executive and administrative exemptions under the Fair Labor Standards Act, resulting in $125,310 in overtime back wages to workers in Colorado, Arizona, Nevada and New Mexico.

In addition, the company was penalized $10,670 for having six minors work later than 9 p.m. during the summer and for having a minor use a box baler.
