Brock Trotter, the University of Denver’s leading scorer, has signed an entry-level contract with the Montreal Canadiens, the school announced tonight.
Trotter, who has not been with the team since last week, will report to Hamilton (Ontario) of the American Hockey League. Trotter signed a three-year deal and could play this weekend for Hamilton.
“We’re really happy for Brock and his opportunity with the Montreal Canadiens,” DU coach George Gwozdecky said in a statement. “Brock accomplished a lot in his three years with our program and we wish him continued success during his professional hockey career.”
The forward leads DU in goals (13) assists (18) and points (31). He is tied for seventh nationally with 1.29 points per game.
