LONDON — Britain’s Home Office on Thursday approved the extradition of an Islamic preacher who is accused of trying to establish a terrorist training camp in Oregon, a spokesman said.
Abu Hamza al-Masri once led London’s Finsbury Park Mosque, which was attended by Sept. 11 conspirator Zacarias Moussaoui and “shoe bomber” Richard Reid.
A Denver native played a key part in al-Masri’s indictment. James Ujaama, a Muslim convert who was raised in Seattle, said he tried to set up the terrorist camp and notified al-Masri that he and others were stockpiling weapons. He pleaded guilty to lesser charges in return for cooperating in the case against al-Masri.
