PUEBLO, COLO. — A flu outbreak has put 19 people in Pueblo County in hospitals. That compares to 22 cases there for all of last season.

In Larimer County, there have been 15 hospitalizations and one death attributed to flu since Nov. 1.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention says Colorado is one of 11 states reporting widespread flu activity.

Jim Sprowell of Associates in Family Medicine says the predominant strain in Colorado has changed during the past week to one that is less responsive to the flu shot.

He says it’s still worth it to get a shot because symptoms can be minimized if you get influenza.

Shots are still available.
