COLORADO SPRINGS — Matt Hartman had a career-best four assists and Jase Weslosky made 38 saves, one shy of a career best, to lead St. Cloud State to a 4-2 upset and series split with fourth-ranked Colorado College on Saturday night.
David Carlisle scored his first career goal — in his 66th career game — and freshman Garrett Roe added two goals in the first period to give the Huskies (12-13-3, 7-11-2 WCHA) a 3-1 lead. Carlisle’s goal came after a dump-in hit a seam and took a crazy bounce, ultimately resulting in a fluttering slap shot that evaded goalie Richard Bachman.
Just 37 seconds later, Roe scored from the left edge of the crease. He scored again with 2:05 left in the period, 83 seconds after the Tigers scored when a shot banked off Tyler Johnson and past Weslosky.
Eric Walsky tucked a shot from the slot under Weslosky’s left pad early in the second period, pulling Colorado College (21-8-1, 16-5-1) within a goal.
But the Huskies killed off a 5-on-3 disadvantage for 1:39 of the third period and held on after Bachman went to the bench in the final minute. Andreas Nodl capped the victory with an empty-net goal at 19:26.
