FORT COLLINS, Colo.—Papers of W.D. Farr, a key figure in creating the Colorado-Big Thompson and other water projects in the state, will be donated to the Colorado State University Water Resources Archive, the school said Saturday.

The papers and photographs, which document Farr’s contributions to water and agriculture, will be available to researchers, industry professionals, historians, students and residents.

Farr died in August at the age of 97. His family donated his papers.

The Greeley native known as “Mr. Water” had lobbied for support of the Colorado-Big Thompson Project, which brings water from the head of the Colorado River across the Continental Divide and to the populous Front Range. The project was completed in 1947.
