The Colorado State Patrol has charged the semi driver in a wreck on Interstate 25 last week that killed one and injured three, including a state trooper.
German Rosales, 23, of Riverside, Calif., was charged with careless driving causing death, among other counts, the state patrol said Sunday.
Rosales was driving a tractor-trailer Wednesday morning north on I-25 near Walsenberg when it slammed into the back of a trooper’s parked patrol car.
Trooper Brad Kennerson, 42, was in the cruiser with Connie Tucker, 56, and Rhonda Traber, 49, both of Trinidad. The two women had been involved in an wreck Kennerson was investigating. They were in the cruiser because of bad weather.
State patrol investigators have determined that the patrol car was parked on the left shoulder next to the center median with its emergency lights flashing when it was hit.
Tucker was killed, and Kennerson, Traber and Rosales were all injured.
