It was a busy weekend in the snowboarding world, and Lindsey Jacobellis of Stratton Mountain, Vt., owned it. Jacobellis picked up two major snowboardcross titles, the first at the Squaw Valley, Calif., stop of the Jeep King of the Mountain Tour, followed by the Chevy U.S. Snowboarding Grand Prix race at Tamarack, Idaho, two days later.
“It felt great. I was really riding well, so I was really happy with the way I was putting the course together,” Jacobellis said. “I’m really happy with how things have come together for me.”
Jacobellis was joined atop the Tamarack podium by Olympic gold medalist Seth Wescott of Carrabassett Valley, Maine, who edged out Californian Shaun Palmer in the men’s race. Palmer had defeated Wescott for his second King of the Mountain win earlier in the weekend.
Louie Vito of Columbus, Ohio, and Kelly Clark of West Dover, Vt., won the halfpipe portion of the Grand Prix, while Claire Bidez of Minturn finished second among the women. Ellery Hollingsworth of Vermont was third.
