GOLDEN, Colo.—Former Jefferson County Treasurer Mark Paschall faces up to four years in prison if convicted of two felonies involving allegations he solicited a kickback from a former aide.

Opening arguments in Paschall’s trial are expected Tuesday afternoon. The former state legislator was indicted in January 2007 and accused of demanding that an employee pay him $9,000 dollars from a $25,000 bonus he had given her.

Paschall was charged with attempted felony theft and compensation for past official behavior.
