University of Denver senior goalie Peter Mannino was named Western Collegiate Hockey Association co-defensive player of the week and DU freshman forward Tyler Bozak was selected rookie of the week.

Mannino stopped 64-of-66 shots and was 9-of-9 on penalty kills last week in the Pioneers’ 1-1 tie with Minnesota and 4-1 victory over the Gophers.

Bozak scored two goals during the Minnesota series, a short-handed tally Friday and the game-winning tally Saturday. Bozak, who also contributed an assist Saturday, has 14 goals and 12 assists in 28 games.

Eagles, Rage split series.

The Colorado Eagles and Rocky Mountain Rage split a two-game series as the Eagles won the finale Wednesday night 6-3 at the Budweiser Events Center in Loveland. Riley Nelson and Kris Wiebe each scored two goals to lead the Eagles.

14ers keep streak alive.

The Colorado 14ers enter the NBA Developmental League all-star break on a three-game winning streak after a 101-98 victory over the Albuquerque Thunderbirds at the Broomfield Event Center.

The 14ers three all-stars led the way. Elton Brown posted his league-leading 22nd double-double with 24 points and 16 rebounds. Billy Thomas made seven 3-pointers and scored 23 points, and Eddie Gill added 15 points and 10 assists.

Pioneers struggle in tournament.

The seventh-ranked DU women’s golf team finished 13th among 15 teams in the Northrop Grumman Regional Challenge at the Palos Verdes (Calif.) Golf Club, a 54-hole tournament that concluded Wednesday.

Katie Kempter was the top performer for the Pioneers, finishing 38th with an 18-over 231.
