Frontier Airlines on Thursday said it will begin begin flying from Denver to Aspen, Durango, Colorado Springs and Grand Junction.
The carrier’s new destinations also include Jackson Hole, Wyo.; Bozeman and Missoula, Mont.; and Fargo, N.D.
The Colorado Springs flights start April 15, while the Aspen, Durango and Grand Junction routes start May 15.
“Having service into towns around the state really helps us inspire companies to look at those areas for economic development,” Gov. Bill Ritter said.
The Fargo flights start May 12, with Jackson Hole on May 15, Missoula on May 16 and Bozeman on May 22.
The new routes are part of Frontier’s expansion of flying with regional aircraft, including Q400s operated by turboprop subsidiary Lynx Aviation. Turboprops or regional jets will be used on all the new flights.
Meanwhile, Denver-based Frontier plans to discontinue its flights to West Palm Beach, Fla., and Baton Rouge, La. It is shifting to seasonal service on flights to Fort Myers and Jacksonville, Fla.
Lynx is seen as a way for Frontier to expand to smaller cities where it doesn’t face as much competition. Frontier experienced multiple delays trying to get Lynx up and running. The first Lynx routes in December included Rapid City, S.D.; Sioux City, Iowa; and Wichita.
Frontier’s fares start at $89 each way for Aspen, Durango, Grand Junction and Jackson Hole, $49 each way for Colorado Springs, $99 each way for Fargo and Bozeman and $109 each way for Missoula.
Frontier also plans in June or July to announce more winter destinations, such as Steamboat Springs, Vail and Crested Butte.
