A motorist killed Wednesday night driving the wrong way on West Sixth Avenue was identified today as 78-year-old Maureen Wolfe of Lakewood.
Lakewood police say Wolfe was eastbound in the westbound lanes at Simms Street in Lakewood when she hit an SUV in the middle lane head-on.
The driver of the SUV, 52-year-old John Crowley of Golden, was treated at a hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.
Golden police received a report at about 8:30 p.m. of a car driving the wrong way, and officers were trying to track down the driver at the time the accident occurred.
Lakewood police do not believe that alcohol or drugs played a role in the accident; a coroner’s report is pending.
