FORT COLLINS, COLO. — A Larimer County environmental advisory board has decided against taking a position on a proposed uranium mine in nearby Weld County.
Assistant Colorado State University Professor David Gilkey who is a board member says they didn’t have enough information to decide if the mine would harm the environment. He says the report does have detailed information including a list of potential risks.
Powertech Corporation has proposed the mine near the town of Nunn. The plan has drawn opposition from area residents and environmental groups.
The Larimer County commissioners will meet February 25th to discuss the mine plan.
