Flocks of snow geese rest in the Lamar- Springfield area during their spring migration to the Canadian Arctic, appealing to birders and hunters, both wooed by festival organizers. In addition to sunrise birding tours and other bird-centric activities, events include presentations on nearby Camp Amache, the Sand Creek Massacre, the Homestead Act and local Work Project Administration sites.
