Bald eagles and unsuspecting animals that are targets of remote hunters benefit from two bills approved by the House on Monday.
Rep. John Soper, D-Thornton, said House Bill 1200 is aimed at preventing Internet hunting, which is happening in other states, from arriving in Colorado. The practice allows computer users to remotely aim and fire weapons, according to the Humane Society of the United States. They report more than 30 states have regulations prohibiting the practice or have signed such bans into law.
House Bill 1304 sets tougher penalties for people who illegally kill bald eagles. Both measures require final approval before heading to the Senate.
