FIRESTONE, Colo.—Sheriff’s deputies say they have recovered the car of a Thornton man wanted in the fatal shooting of two neighbors.
Weld County deputies say Lance Leroy McDermed’s car was found Monday at a truck stop car wash along Interstate 25 near the Colorado 119 exit, about 20 miles north of Thornton.
Truck stop employees spotted the vehicle and called deputies.
The 36-year-old McDermed hasn’t been found.
He is suspected in the shooting deaths of Marco Antonio Escobedo and his wife, Vera Marie Escobedo, on Saturday.
They lived near McDermed in a condominium complex. Neighbors say McDermed had previously argued with the couple.
