GOP presidential candidate Mike Huckabee, a former Arkansas governor, told a meeting in Colorado Springs on Friday that equality demands an amendment to the Constitution to declare that life begins at conception. He said that even if the Supreme Court overturns the decision that legalized abortion in 1973, it wouldn’t go far enough. “What that means is that every one of the 50 states can come up with its own definition of life,” said Huckabee, who equated abortion with slavery. “That’s the logic of the Civil War.”
