A member of the Ault-Pierce Fire Protection District rolled a fire truck and was killed this morning on a rural road in Weld County, authorities say.
The firefighter was headed to a medical emergency in Ault today at 6:24 a.m. when the truck rolled at the intersection of Weld County roads 33 and 88, said Master Trooper Ron Watkins of the Colorado State Patrol.
The volunteer firefighter’s name has not been released pending notification of family members, Watkins said.
“We don’t know what caused the accident,” he said.
The victim has been a volunteer firefighter for three years, according to Capt. Roger Moore of the Eaton Fire Protection District.
“Today Ault-Pierce Fire Protection District suffered a great loss of one of their own,” Moore said. “Our thoughts and prayers are with the firefighter’s family.”
