Spring is creeping toward Denver, bringing steadily increasing temperatures, but Colorado’s mountains remain a paradise for skiers and snowboarders.
Metro Denver temperatures today are expected to hit the low 60s, numbers that aren’t unusual for this time of year, said Jim Kalina, meteorologist at the National Weather Service in Boulder.
“The average high is 49, so this isn’t too unusual,” Kalina said. “It seems like the last couple of weeks have been quite a bit warmer than it has been in December and January, so we are getting closer” to consistent warm temperatures.
On Monday, Denver temperatures are expected to reach the mid 40s, but there is a small chance of snow in the afternoon.
There are snow advisories in mountain areas.
Rabbit Ears Pass near Steamboat Springs is expected to get up to 18 inches by Monday morning.
Breckenridge could have up to 15 inches by tomorrow morning with another 5 inches possible on Monday.
Fairplay could get up to 2 inches today with another 7 possible tonight.
