GOLDEN — The teenage girl indicted for vehicular homicide related to a crash last year that killed a Bear Creek High School girl and seriously injured a young man has pleaded not guilty to nine counts.
Nanette LaFleur, 17, entered the pleas Monday in Jefferson County District Court. The indictment stated that LaFleur was behind the wheel March 13, 2007, when the vehicle crossed the median and slammed head-on into a car driven by Seth Mutschler, 20.
Mutschler was critically injured but survived. His passenger, Samara Stricklen, 17, was killed.
LaFleur pleaded not guilty to three counts of vehicular homicide, vehicular assault, two counts of attempt to influence a public servant, possession of marijuana, underage possession of alcohol, and minor driving with passengers under 21.
A two-week jury trial is set for July 7-18.
Both girls said Bowen was driving at the time of the crash. In January, Bowen was sentenced to 45 days in jail and two years of probation with other stipulations.
