LEADVILLE, Colo.—About 1,200 Leadville-area students are getting the day off because of a natural gas leak in a school bus barn.
Lake County School Superintendent Betty Bullock says drivers couldn’t start their buses in the barn Monday morning for fear of triggering an explosion.
That means most students can’t get to school, so classes have been canceled.
The cause of the leak isn’t known. Xcel Energy is making repairs.
