A woman on the second story of an Arvada home that caught fire this morning was rescued by firefighters who used a ladder to reach her.

The woman, who was not named, was taken to St. Anthony Central Hospital to be treated for injuries, said Scott Pribble, an Arvada Fire Protection District spokesman, in a press release.

The early morning fire broke out at 6841 Lamar St., Pribble said, and the district received nine 911 calls reporting it.

When firefighters arrived they found smoke and flames streaming from the rear of the home and a woman leaning out a front window in need of help.

Details on the rescued women’s medical condition were not available.

A detached garage at the rear of the home also sustained fire and heat damage, Pribble said.

Thirty firefighters with 10 firefighting vehicles responded to the fire.

Two firefighters were transported to Lutheran Medical Center with minor injuries, treated and released.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
