After the game, Hurdle insisted that the fourth and fifth spots in the rotation are wide open. Two of the candidates, Jason Hirsh and Franklin Morales, worked two solid innings. Hirsh, pitching in a game for the first time since a line drive broke his fibula Aug. 7 against the Brewers, was happy with his performance, but said he needs to concentrate on keeping the ball down in the zone. Morales, who has been focusing on mechanics this spring, showed excellent control.
