Fountain police have arrested a man who allegedly jumped into a woman’s car, demanded money and began to drive away with her in the vehicle.
Police arrested Onesimo Tobias Vigil, 27, on Sunday on suspicion of kidnapping.
The 19-year-old woman alleged that she was sitting in her car at the Wendy’s at 6464 S. U.S. 8-5/87, when Vigil forced her to move into the passenger seat and demanded money.
“An officer observed the vehicle operating without lights, followed the vehicle as it proceeded behind the shopping center and initiated contact. Vigil fled on foot,” according to a press release.
The officer caught the suspect in a nearby parking lot.
The woman was not injured. Police found a toy handgun in the vehicle.
