BOULDER — A 21-year-old man thought to be the driver in a hit-and-run in Boulder that injured a 15-year-old boy turned himself in Monday.

Alexander Rek, a student at the University of Colorado, was booked into the Boulder County jail on suspicion of vehicular assault, hit-and-run and two counts of felony menacing.

The 15-year-old was hit about 6 p.m. Feb. 23 in the 800 block of College Avenue. Witnesses told police the victim was walking with friends when a black Volvo swerved toward the group. Some witnesses said the driver appeared to accelerate before hitting the teen. The driver took off.
