ATLANTA — For the first time, medical experts are recommending that a less invasive X-ray known as a virtual colonoscopy and a stool DNA test join the arsenal of screening tests for colon cancer.

A group of medical organizations says in the recommendations made Wednesday that an expanded array of tests might lead more people to get screened.

The first consensus guidelines were released by the Cancer Society, the American College of Radiology and the U.S. Multi-Society Task Force on Colorectal Cancer.
