SAN ANTONIO — Indications were there was nothing wrong with Allen Iverson’s shooting hand, considering he led Denver in scoring on Friday and Saturday. Turns out, the guy was playing with a broken finger.

X-rays on Monday showed that Iverson has a small, nondisplaced fracture at the tip of his right ring finger. It hurts, he said. But Iverson perpetually plays through pain, and this is no different. He was in the starting lineup Monday at San Antonio.

“Yeah, I’m definitely worried,” Iverson said before the game. “It’s hard enough to get into the playoffs as it is. It’s something else that we have to deal with. . . . But just mentally and physically, I’ve been through these stages in my career before.”

Iverson did not wear any protective padding or tape on his hand in Monday’s game.

“I’m happy he’s going to play,” Denver coach George Karl said, “and knowing how tough he is, I’m sure he’ll figure out how to be effective and efficient. But we’ll have to monitor it.”
