DURANGO — The district attorney for the Durango-based 6th Judicial District, charged with driving under the influence and careless driving, said Monday he will not run for re-election.
However, Craig Stephen Westberg, who has pleaded not guilty and is set for trial in May, said he intends to finish his current term in office. He was elected in 2004, and his term ends in January.
When Westberg was arrested in October, he said he had taken a sleeping pill. The arrest in October was his third in 30 years on suspicion of driving under the influence. Westberg has said that he had a drinking problem in the 1970s.
