LAKELAND, Fla. — Florida’s orange harvest is running slightly ahead of Department of Agriculture forecasts, and the crop may end up exceeding the USDA’s February estimate by 1.5 million boxes, the state Citrus Administrative Committee said Monday.

About 77.513 million boxes of early, midseason and Temple oranges have been harvested since October, 0.1 percent more than the USDA’s forecast of 77.4 million for those varieties, the committee said in a report.
