Through the week.Architecture. If the Museum of Contemporary Art/Denver is David Adjaye’s first major public building to be completed in the United States, it is hardly the first such project in his career. The fast-rising London architect is showcased in “David Adjaye: Making Public Buildings,” an internationally touring show that runs through May 25 at the Museum of Contemporary Art/Denver, 1485 Delgany St. The show was organized by the Whitechapel Gallery in London and has been shown at the Netherlands Architecture Institute and The Studio Museum in Harlem. $10, $5 seniors and students. 303-298-7554 or .

Today.Photography. China has become a focal point for contemporary art of all kinds, and photography is no exception. A new exhibition, “Body Art: New Photography from China,” explores the work of six of the country’s most prominent artists working in the medium — Huang Yan, Li Wei, Cang Xin, Liu Ren, Ma Yanling and Wu Yuren. The show, organized in conjunction with the Asian Art Coordinating Council, opens today at the Foothills Art Center, 809 15th St., in Golden, with a public reception from 5:30 to 8 p.m. $3, $2 seniors and free for students. 303-279-3922 or .

Movies

Through the week.Comedy classic. If a colleague stops you in the hall to recount the dialogue of “The Princess Bride,” you’d be a dope not to celebrate the film’s run this weekend. Long before Amy Adams enchanted, Robin Wright was fracturing fairy tales. Ages before Puss in Boots purred in “Shrek,” Mandy Patinkin declared in a deliciously silly accent, “Hello. My name is Inigo Montoya. You killed my father. Prepare to die.” Friday and Saturday, midnight, Esquire Theatre, East Sixth Avenue and Downing Street. $7. 303-352-1992.

Music

Today and Saturday. Classical music. No composer has written more profound or enduringly influential music than Johann Sebastian Bach (1685-1750). Returning for its 27th year, the Boulder Bach Festival will celebrate this towering creator with concerts at 7:30 p.m. today and Saturday in First United Methodist Church, 1421 Spruce St., Boulder. Today’s line-up will feature an array of instrumental works, including the “Brandenburg Concerto No. 2,” and Saturday’s program will spotlight the “St. John Passion.” $35. 303-444-7328 or .

Today and Sunday. Opera. Colorado Shakespeare Festival producing artistic director Philip Sneed will play the part of the jailer, Frosch, in the University of Colorado College of Music’s operetta “Die Fledermaus (The Bat),” at 7:30 p.m. today and at 2 p.m. Sunday at CU’s Macky Auditorium. The Johann Strauss operetta is a mix of masquerade and merriment, waltzes and polkas celebrating the spirit of 19th century Vienna. $10-$35. 303-492-8008 or visit .

Monday. Rock. Slim Cessna is part rock star, part preacherman. And his band’s shows are exactly the kind of spectacle that you’d expect from such a charismatic performer. A Slim Cessna’s Auto Club show is a rock extravaganza with crowd surfing, mosh pits and beery toasts. Slim, Munly and the crew will take over the Gothic Theatre on Monday to release their new Alternative Tentacles, CD “Cipher.” $12-$15. .

Tuesday. Alt rock. Jonathan Richman is almost superhuman. His fans know that. The Modern Lovers frontman writes delicate, loving songs like nobody else — and his fans have never understood why Richman has such a limited draw to this day. We’ll continue seeing his shows at small venues, including his Tuesday night gig at the tiny Lion’s Lair. And judging from the site, the show is sold out..

Wednesday. Classical music. Two pianists joining forces is one of the most dramatic instrumental combinations in classical music. Two members of the University of Colorado at Boulder’s music faculty — Daphne Leong and Alejandro Cremaschi — will team for a recital titled “Terrible Twos: 20th and 21st Century Piano Duos,” with works by Andrew May, Maurice Ravel and Olivier Messiaen. The free performance is set for 7:30 p.m. Tuesday in CU’s Grusin Music Hall in the Imig Music Building, 18th Street and Euclid Avenue. 303-492-8008 or .

Theater

Sunday. Speaker series. The Bas Bleu Theatre’s ongoing speaker series will feature Denver Center Theatre Company artistic director Kent Thompson at 7:30 p.m. Sunday at 401 Pine St., Fort Collins. Thompson will be interviewed by Dr. Morris Burns for 40 minutes, followed by 40 minutes of questions and answers. Wine and cheese provided. $10-$15. 970-498-8949 or .

Television

Tonight. Reality. “Oprah’s Big Give,” at 8 p.m. tonight on KMGH-Channel 7, ventures to Houston, where the eight contenders are challenged to make 1,000 children’s dreams come true. ABC’s altruistic reality show this week boasts special appearances by Tony Hawk and Andre Agassi.

Dining

Ongoing. Breakfast delicacy. An object lesson in the nobility of doing one thing exquisitely well, The Duffeyroll Cafe is the undisputed Colorado master of cinnamon rolls. Light, flaky, sweet and not too gooey, an awesome commuter’s breakfast. Two locations. 1290 S. Pearl St. (at Louisiana), 4994 E. Hampden Ave. (at Happy Canyon). Both locations share one phone number: 303-753-9177. Thursday and Saturday.Double Feature. The Starz FilmCenter folks have given the double feature an appropriately smarty-pants twist. For their “Seeing Double” bill, they’ll screen “Run Lola Run” by German director Tom Tykwer along with American-indie director Gregg Araki’s “Smiley Face,”starring the oddly incomparable Anna Faris. Huh? That’s exactly the cinema-curious response they hope to tease. Thursday, 7 p.m. and March 22, 2:30 p.m. Starz FilmCenter. $6-$9.50. 303-820-3456.
