DENVER—Colorado congresswoman Marilyn Musgrave said she will not seek money for pet projects in Colorado this year.
The Republican congresswoman made the same commitment last year, saying the system of so-called “earmarks” was broken. Democratic Rep. Mark Udall made the same commitment last week.
Earmarks have been extremely popular with lawmakers, but they have come under attack in the wake of high-profile boondoggles like the proposed $223 million “bridge to nowhere” in Alaska.
More than 20 legislators have sworn off the pork barrel projects this year, vowing not to participate until a more responsible system is established.
