PODER MAGAZINE and BOSTON CONSULTING GROUP: Honored Timothy Marquez, chairman and chief executive of Denver-based Venoco Inc., with the “Innovation in Philanthropy Award” for his leadership and innovation in oil and natural-gas exploration. He also is recognized for his philanthropic activities on education, including his formation of the Denver Scholarship Foundation with his wife, Bernadette, and Denver Mayor John Hickenlooper.

MERRILL LYNCH: Announced that Jodi Rolland has been appointed division director of the southwest mountain division, based in Denver.

The nonprofit organization also named Alison George, Mercy Housing, and Troy Gladwell, Medici Communities, co-presidents; Jehn-ai Jackson, Caldwell-Kirk Mortuary, secretary; and Tom Klein, New Communities Partners, treasurer.

SPRING INSTITUTE FOR INTERCULTURAL LEARNING: Selected Susan Downs-Karkos, formerly a senior program officer at the Colorado Trust, as the director of community integration strategies, a new division.

THE AMERICAN COUNCIL OF ENGINEERING COMPANIES OF COLORADO: Named Sherri Jones, of Rothberg, Tamburini & Winsor Inc., as the 2008 Outstanding Woman in Engineering.

BROWNSTEIN HYATT FARBER SCHRECK: Appointed Lisa Simon to the newly created position of chief marketing officer.
