The winner: Jack Saunders, Leadville: The Leadville USA mural was commissioned by Ed Larsh, in conjunction with his book “Leadville USA,” and paid for by myself and a few other local merchants. It depicts three of Larsh’s great-aunts who settled in Leadville in the late 1870s. Mamie was Leadville’s first schoolteacher. Edie was a prostitute. Mindy was a grieving widow as a result of a gunfight.
