GOLDEN, Colo.—Oops!

Someone forgot to spell-check a new exit sign that a contractor hung along westbound Interstate 70 near Golden on Tuesday.

That left motorists temporarily looking at a sign at exit 256, directing them to “Lookout Mountian” instead of “Lookout Mountain.”

CDOT noticed the mistake quickly and hung a piece of cloth over the sign.

A patch to cover the misspelled word with the right one was scheduled to be applied Wednesday.

CDOT says it cost about $1,000 to produce and hang the sign.
