Denver ranked seventh in the nation in a list that combines the best mix of lifestyle appeal and business advantages.

In the first edition of its “Best Places to Live and Launch,” FSB: Fortune Small Business came out with its definitive list of the top 100 cities throughout the country in which to launch a business.

In compiling the list, FSB assessed economic conditions, such as local tax rates and startup activity, alongside natural beauty, affordable housing and easy access to such diversions as museums and hungry gamefish. Additionally, FSB interviewed local entrepreneurs, city officials and economic experts.

Bellevue, Wash., ranked first, followed by Georgetown, Texas; Buford, Ga.; Marina del Rey, Calif.; Bethesda, Md.; and Portland, Ore. The Denver Post
