GOLDEN — An 18-year-old Lakewood man was sentenced today to three years probation and 10 days in jail for causing the deaths of three teens last year in an Arvada traffic crash.

Jeremiah Ogden pleaded guilty in January to three counts of careless driving resulting in death and three traffic violations involving restrictions of underage drivers.

On Sept. 8, Ogden, who was 17 at the time, was driving a car with three 17-year-old passengers. Ogden ran the stop sign at West 62nd Avenue and Ward Road and turned left on to Ward Road.

A refrigerated delivery truck hit the car. Kayla DeMars died at the scene. Angelina Ford and Daniel “Danny” LoSasso died later at St. Anthony Central Hospital.

Ogden’s probation was granted on the following conditions: 300 hours of community service, with the judge saying he would like it served in a hospital or injury rehabilition facility; raising money for scholarships in each of the dead teens’ names at Arvada West High School; mental health treatment; and attending Alive At 25 classes.

The Colorado Department of Transportation is designing safety improvements for the intersection. Construction should begin late this spring or early summer.
