DENVER—The former girlfriend and publicist for GOP state House candidate Muhammad Ali Hasan has dropped her request for a permanent restraining order against him but says she was pressured by prominent party members to do so.

“They told me that I was embarrassing the Republican Party, ruining his campaign,” Alison Miller told The Denver Post for an article published this week. The article did not name who pressured Miller.

Ali Hasan, 27, said the issue will not derail his race against Christine Scanlan, D-Dillon, to represent Eagle County in House District 56.

Randy Milhoan, chairman of the Eagle County GOP, said he did not try to dissuade Miller from getting a protective order.

Miller said she dated Hasan for several months. In a request March 3 seeking a restraining order, she alleged that Hasan hired someone to hack into her e-mail accounts and harassed her when the relationship soured.

Ali Hasan’s lawyer, Greg Daniels, has said the allegations are untrue.
