Tyler Jensen, Grand Valley
He’ll continue to lament the one that got away, but Tyler Jensen has come to grips with it.
“The season went great; I only wish the state tournament went different,” the Grand Valley senior said. “It would have been nice to have two state titles.”
The Cardinals, champions in 2006-07, were a threat to repeat. Jensen averaged 16 points, seven rebounds and five assists as Grand Valley again played a third of its regular-season games against 3A competition.
However, the Cardinals lost by two in the state quarterfinals, ending Jensen’s dream run a few games short.
“He is one of the best players we have ever had,” Grand Valley coach Scott Kiburis said.
Jensen — who also plays football and baseball — is pursuing junior-college options.
