GRAND JUNCTION, Colo.—Grand Junction police have arrested a man suspected of sexually assaulting his stepdaughter after his wife caught him on tape “with suspicious activity” happening.
Police Sgt. Pete Chapola says the man surrendered to police this week. The Associated Press is not naming the man to protect the identity of the alleged victim.
Chapola says the man’s wife suspected he was molesting her daughter, so she set up a video camera. Chapola says the video captured “suspicious activity” while the 6-year-old girl slept in her bunk bed. He didn’t elaborate.
Chapola says the man faces 12 counts of sexual assault on a child by someone in a position of trust and pattern of abuse. The man is free on $25,000 bail.
