Getting your player ready...

Rockies left fielder Matt Holliday privately believes he could steal 20 bases. At 228 pounds, he possesses terrific speed and solid instincts. With good friend Josh Bard catching and Jake Peavy paying little attention, Holliday swiped two bases Thursday night, tying him for the team lead with four.

Part of the reason Holliday was switched from third to the cleanup spot was to allow more opportunities to run, with the patient Garrett Atkins hitting behind him.

Grinding Tulo.

Shortstop Troy Tulowitzki called it a “relief” that he finally knocked in his first two runs of the season Wednesday night. Facing Jake Peavy, however, squelched any momentum as he went hitless against the right-hander.

On second thought.

Clint Barmes started consecutive games for the first time this season as a concession to his hot bat and rookie Jayson Nix’s slump.
