EchoStar Corp., the satellite- TV-equipment company spun off from Dish Network Corp., said its costs from the loss of a satellite will be substantially covered by insurers.
The AMC-14 satellite is a total loss because it can’t be repositioned for a proper orbit after a botched launch, Doug las County-based EchoStar said in a regulatory filing Thursday.
The AMC-14 was instrumental in plans by Dish to add high-definition channels, Sanford C. Bernstein & Co. analyst Craig Moffett said March 17. Dish said in a filing it has no financial liability from the loss.
