WASHINGTON — The fight over drilling on the Roan Plateau accelerated Thursday as three members of Colorado’s congressional delegation offered legislation putting limits on development.
Democratic Reps. John Salazar of Manassa and Mark Udall of Eldorado Springs and Sen. Ken Salazar, a Democrat, introduced a bill similar to the plan Gov. Bill Ritter offered the Interior Department. The Bush administration has rejected Ritter’s request, saying it would go ahead with its plan to sell drilling leases.
Sen. Wayne Allard, a Republican, opposes Salazar’s plan, saying energy development is needed..
