The Avs scored the first goal in every game of the series. In Game 6, it was Ben Guite giving the Avs a 1-0 lead, and it was a big one. If Guite misses his breakaway bid during a Wild power play, no damage would have been done for Minnesota. Instead, the visitors got down — in more ways than one.
Smitty shines.
Great goal by Ryan Smyth to give the Avs a 2-1 lead heading in the third period. Off a nice behind-the-net feed from rookie David Jones, Smyth’s one-timer hit twine inside the far post.
