DENVER—A new coalition hopes to raise $800 million in cash and land donations to preserve wildlife habitat and scenic views on thousands of acres of private property.

The Keep It Colorado coalition announced the plan Wednesday, aimed at keeping the land from being developed.

Coalition organizers say they hope to raise about $400 million from private and public sources and get landowners to donate property worth another $400 million.

The group has targeted 24 regions of the state.

Members of the coalition include the Conservation Fund, Colorado Open Lands, the Nature Conservancy, The Trust For Public Lands and the Colorado Conservation Trust.
