Denver native Dave Jarrett has been named head coach of the U.S. nordic combined ski team, succeeding Lasse Ottesen.

Jarrett, who learned to ski jump at Winter Park before moving to train with the Steamboat Springs Winter Sports Club, was on the U.S. nordic combined team from 1992 through 1998 and competed in two Olympics. His competitive career overlapped with two athletes on the current team, Bill Demong and Johnny Spillane.

Jarrett earned degrees in kinesiology and applied physiology at the University of Colorado and has been an assistant U.S. nordic coach since 2002.
